Oblasť súčasného šperku je sebareflexná prax, čo znamená, že sa zameriava na reflexiu podmienok, v ktorých sa odohráva. Súčasní autori a autorky vo všeobecnosti pracujú vo vedomom vzťahu, často aj kritickom, k histórii praxe v širšej oblasti šperkov. To odlišuje súčasný šperk od iných foriem zdobenia tela, a praktiky jeho tvorcov sa zameriavajú predovšetkým na vzťah k telu a noseniu v kontexte komunikačných vlastností šperku.

Súčasné šperky majú moc vtiahnuť diváctvo a zapojiť ho do dialógu objektu a jeho nositeľa s publikom prostredníctvom intímneho umiestnenia na tele. Spravidla nie sú vnímané ako dekoratívne objekty, majú schopnosť byť neverbálnym nositeľom kritického spoločenského komentára, sú nástrojom podnecujúcim k zamysleniu, majú schopnosť uchovať a sprostredkovať pamäť či emócie.

Výstava predstaví tvorbu štyroch šperkárskych ateliérov v stredoeurópskom kontexte - práce súčasných študentov a študentiek a výsledky ich kreatívneho vzdelávania zameraného na rozvoj schopnosti kritického myslenia a umeleckého vyjadrenia v danom médiu: ateliér Kov a šperk na VŠVU v Bratislave (ped. K. Španihelová), atelier Kov a šperk na Katedre umění a designu na Západočeské univerzitě v Plzni (ped. M. Verner), atelier Sklo a šperk v Jablonci nad Nisou – Katedra designu Technické univerzity v Liberci (ped. L. Šikolová) a Jewellery an Metal Design MA, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design v Budapešti (ped. F. Vági).

Výstava je sprievodným podujatím 12. ročníka medzinárodnej konferencie ŠperkStret 2024, ktorej vznik je úzko naviazaný na minulé aj súčasné aktivity ateliéru Kov a šperk na VŠVU v Bratislave.

The field of contemporary jewellery is a self-reflexive practice, which means that it focuses on the reflection of the conditions in which it takes place. Contemporary authors generally work in a conscious relationship, often critical, to the history of practice in the wider field of jewellery. This distinguishes contemporary jewellery from other forms of body adornment, and the practices of its makers focus primarily on the relationship to the body and wearability in the context of the communicative qualities of jewellery.

Contemporary jewellery has the power to draw the viewer in and engage them in a dialogue between the object and its wearer and the audience through its intimate placement on the body. As a rule, they are not perceived as decorative objects, they have the ability to be a non-verbal vehicle for critical social commentary, they are a thought-provoking tool, they have the ability to preserve and convey memory or emotion.

The exhibition will present the work of four jewellery studios in a Central European context - the work of contemporary students and the results of their creative education aimed at developing the ability of critical thinking and artistic expression in the given medium: the Metal and Jewellery Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (pedagogue K. Španihelová), Metal and Jewellery Studio at the Department of Art and Design at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (ped. M. Verner), Glass and Jewellery Studio in Jablonec nad Nisou - Department of Design at the Technical University of Liberec (ped. L. Šikolová) and Jewellery and Metal Design MA, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest (ped. F. Vági).

The exhibition is an accompanying event of the 12th international conference ŠperkStret 2024, the creation of which is closely linked to the past and present activities of the Metal and Jewellery Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
