Amphitrio international tour - What Freedom Sounds Like
What Freedom Sounds Like marks the 35th anniversary of liberation from the
communist regime in Romania, celebrating three and a half decades of artistic
freedom. In this context, Amphitrio is releasing its latest album, Timelines, featuring
eight pieces that blend influences from the musical folklore of eight former
communist countries (Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech
Republic, Poland, and Germany). The tracks on Timelines tell their own stories,
inspired by national legends or by the customs and traditions that are central to the
identity of each country. The album thus aims to promote national identities by
showcasing each country’s authenticity and uniqueness, while offering a fresh
musical perspective on the cultural heritage of Central and Eastern Europe.

Amphitrio is a contemporary jazz trio formed in 2020, featuring pianist and
composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex, and percussionist Philip Goron,
musicians with a solid foundation in both classical and alternative music. Their
repertoire includes original compositions written by Andrei Petrache in the realm of
modern jazz, influenced by contemporary Nordic jazz and infused with Balkan-
oriental colors, as well as elements of heavy rock and electronic music. With the
release of their debut albums Points and Seasons (2023), Amphitrio began exploring
various subgenres within the electro-groove genre, steadily pushing their creative
boundaries. Now, with their third album Timelines (2024), the trio expands their style
even further, delivering a more refined and immersive musical experience.
